Whale-watching tours

Visitors

Whale watching in a zodiac is open to anyone, however some conditions or exceptions apply:

  • pregnant women may not board
  • not recommended for people with back problems as the water is sometimes turbulent
  • children under 5 must be able to sit by themselves and have and adequate behavior. However, the captain may deny them access if the temperature is inadequate or if an adverse situation could affect passenger safety
  • anyone with limited physical abilities
  • animals are not permitted aboard the watercraft
  • if the weather is not favorable, children under 8 years old may be refused for safety and health reasons (frostbite)
  • Children younger 2 years are not permitted
  • families or groups of 4 or more can be separated, so do not be on the same boat for the cruise

Recommendations

Even if it is beautiful and warm outside, the water temperature is around 4 to 6 degrees.

We require you to wear:

  • warm clothing
  • socks
  • closed shoes (it is forbidden to wear water shoes)
  • bring spare clothing and shoes

Sea kayak and stand up paddle (SUP)

Visitors

Here are some practical and practical information. Please refer to it before your booking or before your visit to Mer et monde écotours.

  • The outings are accompanied by an experienced, qualified and passionate guide
  • Groups always meet a maximum ratio of 8 participants (4 tandem kayaks) to 1 professional guide
  • 2 departure sites (depending on the activity chosen)
    • Bergeronnes – l’Anse à la cave
    • Tadoussac – on the beach facing 148 Bord-de-l’eau, Tadoussac, QC
  • We accept people with limited physical abilities. Please inform us before booking in order to better advise the appropriate activity
  • We ask for your arrival 30 min before the start of the activity to check in at the reception of Mer et monde Bergeronnes or on the beach of Tadoussac  depending on your chosen activity
  • not recommended for people with back problems when the sea is rough.

Recommendation

Even if it is nice and warm, the water temperature is between 4 and 6 degrees.

  • Equipment provided for sea kayaking activities includes
    • a wet-suit
    • a windbreaker
    • a flotation jacket
    • neoprene boots
    • a skirt
    • and all navigation equipment (paddle and sea kayak)
  • Equipment provided for SUP activities includes;
    • a wet-suit
    • a flotation jacket
    • neoprene boots
    • and all navigation equipment (paddle and paddleboard)
    • For Bergeronnes outings in SUP, a dry-suit is provided

Conditions

  • Pregnant women are not admitted to SUP activities
  • Sea kayaking activities are not recommended for pregnant women less than 4 months and more than 6 months
  • Children under 7 years of age are not accepted. Check with each activity for the minimum age required
  • No participant will be permitted under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Any late participant in the activity will be refused and non-refundable.
  • Animals are not allowed.
  • A minimum of 4 participants is required to carry out the activities in full day: in case of less than 4 participants registered the day before the activity, you will be contacted and we can postpone, modify or cancel with refund your activity
  • Kayak-activities “full day”: If the activity is cancelled on the same day by the guide due to inclement weather, lunch ($15 + taxes) is non-refundable and will be returned to the customer.

 

  • For your comfort during warmer days, it is suggested to plan;
    • thin synthetic underwear or swimsuit (avoid cotton)
    • a cap
    • a pair of sunglasses
    • a water bottle
    • of sunscreen
  • For cooler days, it is suggested to plan;
    • Thicker synthetic clothing
    • a warm fleece sweater
    • wool or synthetic socks
    • a hat, tuque or cap

Condo-Hotels

Access

The Natakam Condo-Hotel units are easily accessible by car from route 138.

Each condo-hotel unit is designed to accommodate families and their young children.

Two units are especially designed to accommodate people with impaired mobility.

Check-in: you can access your Condo-Hotel unit as of 4:00 p.m.

If you anticipate arriving later than 8:00pm, you must notify the staff at the Reservation and Information Centre at 1-888-868-6666 or 418-233-2266.

Upon arrival, you will receive a parking permit. This must be placed in a visible location on your vehicle’s dashboard.

Check-out: you are required to leave your Condo-Hotel unit and return the keys to reception before 11:00 a.m. on your departure day.

If the departure time is not met, we must unfortunately charge you $ 40 per additional half-hour since it is impossible for us to give you additional hours of accommodation.

Occupation

Each condo-hotel unit can accommodate 4 people; however, each unit can accommodate 2 additional people for a small fee (for a maximum of 6 people, including infants and young children). Please respect the maximum unit capacity in order to avoid immediate eviction without refund.  Pet prohibited and non-smoking unit, $ 500 fee will be charged to offenders.

The use of loudspeakers is prohibited. Individually or in small groups, it remains important to respect the peace and quiet of the site. These instructions must be respected.

Housekeeping

You are responsible for the housekeeping of your Condo-Hotel unit for the duration of your stay. Clean towels and washcloths will be brought to you every 2 days. For long stays, you will receive fresh bedding on the 8th day so that you may change your bed yourself.

When you leave, you must ensure that the premises are in the same condition as they were upon your arrival, even though our housekeeping staff will clean the premises after your departure. Please wash the dishes, put them back in place and dispose of any waste in the containers provided.

A minimum administration fee of $250 applies for the management of cases of: damage to property or missing objects, repair or replacement.

Internet

All the Condo-Hotel units provide a wireless internet connection.

Laundry

There are laundry facilities (washer and dryer) in a small building near the Condo-Hotel units. The use of the machines is at your expense, so please bring change for this purpose.

BBQ

Condo-hotel units do not include a BBQ, but you can bring your own portable BBQ. We ask that you take care not to damage your wooden balcony and not to inconvenience your neighbours.

Cottages

Access

Check-in: you can access your cottage and the site as of 4:00 p.m.

If you anticipate arriving later than 8:00 p.m, you must notify the staff at the Reservation and Information Centre at 1-888-868-6666 or 418-233-2266.

We ask you to respect the cottage’s maximum capacity. Otherwise, you may be warned or evicted without any refund.  Pet prohibited and non-smoking unit, $5 00 fee will be charged to offenders.

  • Anse-à-Jos and Anse-à-Yves: 4 to 6 people, including young children.
  • Shipek: 2 people, including young children, except for cottage no 16, which can accommodate 4 or 6 people, including young children.
  • Lacs à Jimmy: 2 to 20 people per cottage, including young children. It’s the perfect place for a large family reunion. Please note that the water is not drinkable and that the cottages do not have electricity, but use solar power. No fishing.

Campfires

Because your experience would be incomplete without the warmth of a campfire, each cottage has an outdoor fire pit. You can buy firewood ($) at the Voisin Essipit convenience store and we thank you for not lighting a fire other than in the location provided for this purpose.

It is strictly forbidden to use the pots or grills of the stove for outdoor fire areas.

Water

The tap water in the Essipit rental cottages is drinkable, except for:

  • Shipek cottages (salt water and not drinkable)
  • Lacs à Jimmy cottages (water is not drinkable)

Tents and RVs

Two campgrounds with a total of 250 sites are available nearby to accommodate those who want to use RVs or tents.

Laundry

There are laundry facilities (washer and dryer only) in a small building near the cottages. The use of the machines is at your expense, so please bring change for this purpose.  Note that there is no laundry for the Jimmy Lakes Cottages.

 

BBQ

Cottage rentals do not include a BBQ (except for the Lacs à Jimmy cottage rentals). You can always bring your own portable BBQ as long as you take care not to damage the wooden balcony.

Campgrounds

Access

Your reservation provides you access to your campsite and to the site as of 2:00 p.m. on your arrival date and until 11:00 a.m. on your departure date. For the ready-to-camp section at Tadoussac Campground, Tipi Campground, and Mer et monde Campground at Bergeronnes, check-in is at 4:00 p.m. and check-out is at 11:00 a.m.

No additional time can be granted. If you have not left by the aforementioned time, our team will release your site and you will be charged for an additional night.

We do not offer tepee rentals. You can rent a tent already set-up in our ready-to-camp section at the Tipi Campground, Tadoussac Campground and Mer et monde Campground at Bergeronnes.

Camping equipment rental is only available at Camping Mer et Monde in Bergeronnes.

You will receive a parking pass* upon arrival. It must be placed in a highly visible location on your vehicle’s dashboard. Only one vehicle per campsite is permitted.

The Tadoussac Campground entrance gate is closed at 11:00 p.m. (even if you have magnetic key card).

Occupation

Each campsite accommodates a maximum of 4 people. If this rule is broken, a warning and an eviction without refund notice may be issued.

The use of loudspeakers is prohibited. Individually or in small groups, it remains important to respect the peace and quiet of the site. These instructions must be respected.

Visitors

Additional fees will be charged for each additional visitor. No additional vehicles are permitted on the site.

Housekeeping

Please keep your campsite clean during your stay.

When you leave, the premises must be in the same condition as they were upon your arrival. You can be held liable for any damage caused during your stay.

A minimum administration fee of $250 applies for the management of cases of: damage to property or missing objects, repair or replacement.

Internet

A free wireless internet connection is available near the Tipi Campground’s washroom facilities and near the Tadoussac Campground’s reception area.

Tipi Campground: The access code will be provided to you at the Reservation and Information Centre.
Tadoussac Campground: The access code will be provided to you at reception (the signal is better near reception). Mer et monde Campground at Bergeronnes:  no internet connection.

Washroom facilities

When you arrive, we will give you a key* to access the washroom facilities, which include:

  • toilets
  • showers ($) – You will need $0.25
  • laundry ($)* – you will need to $1.00

There is an outdoor sink at Tipi Campground and 2 outdoor sinks at Mer et monde Campground that you may do your dishes.

You can use the laundry* facilities to do your washing, drying and ironing (there is no ironing at Tipi Campground). Please bring your own change to use these machines. The laundry is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Please ensure the facilities are clean after you have finished using them.

Please note that water is not drinkable on the Mer et monde ecotours site. We sell 4-litre bottles, but we strongly encourage you to bring your own reusable containers and use the refill at the Voisin d’Essipit convenience store.

*Except Mer et monde campground at Bergeronnes

Campfires

Each campsite has a fire pit, so you can light a fire and relax to the sounds of crackling flames on your own site. Please do not light a fire anywhere other than in the fire pit provided.

Pets

There’s no need to be separated from your hairy companions. Pets are allowed on campingsite at Tipi Campground, Tadoussac Campground and Mer et monde Campground at Bergeronnes Prohibited animals except in the ready-to-camp, tents, cottages, rustic shelters and littles houses sections, $ 500 fee will be charged to offender.

Please note that your pets must be kept on a leash and monitored at all times out of respect for the other campers.   Never leave your pet alone or unattended AT ALL TIMES. You must also ensure you keep your site clean and pick up your pets’ waste.

Outfitters

Important

During the hunting season, there may be no running water not drinkable in the taps because of the cold. Bring an adequate supply of bottled water.

Don’t forget to bring your sheets, blankets, sleeping bags, towels and washcloths, as they are not provided.

Access

You can easily access Essipit outfitters via the unpaved but well-maintained forest road. Please respect the maximum posted speeds at all times.

Mandatory registration to drive on the northern Zec road with a right of way fee per vehicle – fines apply to the offender. (Except for Pourvoirie des Lacs à Jimmy).

Rental Period

You can access your cottage and the site as of 4:00 p.m. on your arrival date and until noon on your departure date.

Occupation

We request that you respect your cottage’s maximum allowable capacity. Otherwise, you could be warned or evicted without a refund.  The use of loudspeakers is prohibited. Individually or in small groups, it remains important to respect the peace and quiet of the site. These instructions must be respected.

Housekeeping

The condition of your cottage is checked after your stay. You are responsible to keep the place clean, to wash the dishes and put them away, and to dispose of your waste in the containers provided.

A minimum administration fee of $250 applies for the management of cases of: damage to property or missing objects, repair or replacement.

Internet

There is no internet connection at Essipit outfitters, so take advantage of this opportunity to be unplugged from your everyday life.

Campfires

Your experience would be incomplete if you didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy a campfire. This is why each outfitter has a fireplace and we ask you to light fires only in the locations provided for this purpose.

ATVs

ATVs are permitted as long as you do not disturb the other users’ peace and quiet.

BBQ

To enhance your meals, all of our cottages are equipped with a BBQ (propane is extra).

Please note that propane is not provided. You can purchase it on-site or bring your own tank.
